The Climate Change Department of the Government of Gujarat was established with a vision to act as a bridge within the Government, and between the Government and the Society to effectively address Climate Change. Integrating Climate Change as a cross- cutting issue in development plans, the State Action Plan on Climate Change was prepared with the aim to create core competencies in the State for suitably responding to the challenges of Climate Change. Some of the areas of focus include generating strategic knowledge for informed decision-making, creating public awareness, disseminating education and empowering communities for participatory and decentralized action on Climate Change. By way of path-breaking initiatives, Gujarat has introduced various Climate Change adaptation and mitigation initiatives such as State-Wide Drinking Water Supply Grid, Sardar Sarovar Project, setting up integrated State-Wide Gas Grid, Canal based Solar Power Project, Bio-Energy Power Generation, Waste to Energy Projects etc. Gujarat has ambitious Solar Power Policy and Wind Power Policy to tap the immense potential of renewable in Gujarat. It is hoped that the Website would help the Department fulfil its goals and objectives. I take this opportunity to humbly solicit the active participation of one and all towards the furtherance of the noble cause which constitutes the raison d’être of this Department.
